Most cities in America are reasonable integrated between races but Detroit gave up on race relations completely after the 1960's riots. The whites moved out of Detroit and into the suburbs while backs stayed. Relations were still tense between blacks and whites and many of whites did not want blacks to move into the suburbs. So communities in the suburbs set up heavy regulation and secret alliances with real estate agents to keep blacks out of the city. This map below shows just how segregated the city of Detroit (mostly black) is from the suburbs (mostly white).

Gender when gender isn't an issue
When it comes to things that have nothing to do with physical ability, do you think that there should be teams for the separate genders? I don't find it necessary to have two separate teams. I was reading online just surfing the web, and i come across an ad for a Girls engineering team. What is the purpose of this? Wouldn't it make sense if there was just one team for something such has this? I assume that they would want more women to be interested in engineering, but you can easily do that but making an ad with a female engineer working in action, or something of the sort maybe with a team or even just posing, however making a separate team for just women seems a bit ridiculous. Sometimes i feel as if the 21st century is like a YouTube video, The advertisement loads perfectly and yet the video itself is buffering ever couple of seconds; time to wake up people.

Nike Swoosh Response
After reading this article it made me realize how much branding has become a part of everyday life. I do agree with the fact stated at the end of the article claiming that the Nike swoosh relates to sports like the fish to Christianity. Nike has become the focus and main innovators of the sports world. I also believe that if a track coach from Oregon can have this type of success it is possible for just about everybody with a good idea and the correct advertising/marketing. Mentioned in the article was how the Nike swoosh logo was created for only $35. This to me is mind blowing, that logo now must be worth millions. You never know how a company might be started and what their symbol will be.
Product Placement
Product placement has become a part of the entertainment we see every day. Nike has one of the biggest impacts on entertainment. Professional athletes that we look up to wear the Nike logo on their uniforms and in our mind we want to feel like a sports star so we buy the products. Student athletes want to buy the same products that heir favorite athletes wear so that they can feel more like that person. In TV we see our favorite characters use a product and we buy it so that we can look like them. Product placement is a major impact in what we buy and marketers use it to make more money.

Ads

Today’s ads are all about selling a brand. Companies are becoming social creatures capable of having personalities and emotions to convey their costumers in the brand experience. People can be passionate about allot of inanimate objects but none is more impotent in its role in human life and has more passionate followers than an automobile. Cars are more important in many young man’s lives than having children. So selling the idea of independence and sex appeal car brands sell is easy to do when your market is for independent young men. Both ads above do a good job displaying how the car market is aimed at young men by the use of attractive women and selling the independence a car gives to a young adult.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest shows the mistreatment in mental institutions. This brought about changes in the 1960's to reform society. Many of these changes included racial equality, women's rights, and support for the mentally handicapped. Now people who are emitted into an institution receive the help they need to get better. They are no longer tortured with the threat of electroshock therapy and lobotomies. Nurses and orderlies are there to help and not to punish the patients. Socially people today feel an obligation to take care of the mentally ill and have learned that it isn't the persons fault they are mentally ill.

Nuclear Drone
So as of 2014 there have been talk and plans for the first drone to be able to fly and drop nukes. There has been previous talk about trying to limit or reduce the use of drones because it is unsafe, too many civilian risk at stake and they tend to crash allot. There has also been talk about how the increase in drone usage could potentially solve issues more efficiently and at less need for military funding. To that i say it doesn't make sense. If they need less military funding then how do they expect to pay for the drone, the people to put it together, operators to play it and fuel to fly it;despite the ability for drones to fly months on end without refueling. The works on the drone has been stopped as of "now" as fear of public opinion flourishes on the new ideas.
Can a 6-Year Old Drive Better Than You?
Rashid al-Dhaheri is a 6 year-old driving sensation out of the United Arab Emirates. He is his nation’s best driver and is becoming very well known. In the article writer Sam Borden explains how this young kid is going to be the next racing great out of the United Arab Emirates. But is t fair to say that he will be? He is only 6-years old, and I believe that he won’t become the next start. It’s not like he is even driving a real car, he drives a go-kart. Driving a real car that goes faster than 40 mph is actually very hard and takes a lot of mental and physical strength. I know that I am being brutally honest here but when was the last time you heard of a professional driver coming from the United Arab Emirates. It’s not a country known for their drivers and to predict that a kid will become the next big thing seems a bit absurd. “He has been driving for half of his life” says his father, but he is only six so if he can have such great skills after only driving for three years I’m sure many other kids could have the same. Not trying to wreck his dreams, but this is how I feel about this article.
Deforce
The City of Detroit is one of the most historic cities in the united states. The city is most known for the auto industry, and crime. The crime in Detroit is significantly higher than in most major cities. The film Deforce shows the difficulties that have hit the community of Detroit. The crime rates in Detroit are significantly higher than the U.S. Average. The city has a major increase in drug related crimes due to the lack of jobs in the city. People in the inner city can make more money with drugs than anywhere else in the city. 318 soldiers were killed in Iraq while over 400 were killed in detroit in 2013. Of these murders over 65% were drug related. Despite all the crime, there is still progress in detroit. Crime rates have decreased in all categories except drug related crime in the past year. The city is also starting to increase the amount of businesses that operate in Detroit.

Riots in the street about racial inequalities was a bad move on both party's to me, all of them knew a better way to handle it but chose not to either it be human nature or sheer ignorance. the whole thing on racial equality sadly will never come but we can make it better, fighting and rioting in the streets may have been the most effective way at their disposal at the time but in no way was it the best way to get their message across. If only there wasn't a need for it tin the first place but i guess that's what makes America beautiful.
Post Racial America
In 2008 America saw the election of the first black president in history. The assumption was that racism would die with the election. Recent events in Ferguson, Missouri show that the racial tensions have not died down. The racial tensions is in part due to the increase in police brutality. Today 60% of Americans have cell phones capable of taking a video. More people are now able to see first hand what the police are doing to people being arrested. When excessive force is used the majority of the time it is a black person being assaulted. Most of the time the cases against the police are dropped. It is important to make the police able to do their job without having to worry about the possibility of being reprimanded, but at the same time the use of excessive force should be stopped.

I think mean girls was a good movie that really displayed how most girls in the school all have to be prefect. This movie is a good example of how girls will do anything to be in the inner crowd and to be the prettiest and most popular girl in the school. This movie shows a good example of that when they cut holes into the chest area of reginas top and she walked around like that all day. And the very next day all the other girls in the school were also wearing their shirts like that. this really shows how girls will do anything to be in the inner circle and to be popular.

This graph is a bit surprising to me because when i first looked at it I thought that he north would be less predictable while the south would be more predictable. I always heard stories of Texas having lots of weather stories but i had no idea it compared to Michigan. This graph in my experience is very accurate to the places I've visited, Must be after gathering data for 20 years just to put this together. Now all they have to do is tell us which state is the nicest year round usually.
Gender sterotyping

Gender gap in suicide

Gender gap in suicide
My article
Most popular culture movies and videogames that are aimed to men use violence to prove their characters masculinity. Guns also play a large part to influence men into settling their rage with violence. But does pop culture’s view of men mean that men are any stronger than women. Sure men are typically larger in physic but from a mental intelligences standpoint. Evidence shows that women are stronger. Women are becoming much less dependent on men to be the breadwinner and have better achievement levels in school.
Because of these gender stereotypes many men go untreated for mental disease because of fear from pop culture that was resulted in the gender gap in suicides.
Despite pop cultures view of how strong men are women are far superior dealing with their emotions and don’t have fear of looking weak to seek help on mental disease and are less likely to commit suicide.
Fahrenheit 9/11: Persuasion or Propaganda?
I think
that Moore's critique of the Bush administrations lack of effort to prevent the
attack on 9/11 showed the downfall of the president to fulfill the role of
national security. At times Moore was belligerent going as far that Bush spent
most of his time away from the white house and at his ranch in Texas. Moore did
seem to be coming from a passionate background on the event of 9/11 and I think
that I would classify his work as a persuasion. When most people were rallying around
the flag Moore showed just how incompetent the Bush administration was to
prevent the attack and then during the committee meetings how little blame was
given to anyone or any system in place.
Graph of police race in US cities

| Race make up in US cities |
In this graph from David Murphy cities are rated with % based on racial make up of the population that is represented by their police force. This graph shows just how much white police officer over represent minority city populations. This is important because in several recent events, race issues have reignited the flame of the long hatred between of the blacks and the whites in the US. Most recently the death of Eric Garner raised the question are police using unnecessary force towards minorities such as the choke hold that was used to restrain Mr. Garner.

I know that most people may say that the graph is right in front of you and that this team is clearly going to win and defeat all the other teams standing in there way. look at there win to lose ratio they are clearly dominating their division. But in my opinion that means nothing its all about whop wants it more and is willing to put in extra work and go 3x as hard in pratice.

This graph shows the number of seasons with at least 10 wins. 5 or more 10 wins seasons equals a dynasty. All teams classified as a dynasty have won a Superbowl at the time of the dynasty with the exceptions of the st. Louis rams and the Philadelphia eagles. The eagles did reach a Superbowl in their dynasty period. This shows that their is a correlation between a dynasty and super bowl wins. Teams like Jacksonville have never had a dynasty and they have never won or reached a Superbowl. Some Superbowl winners haven't had a dynasty when they won, but they did have a string of 10 win seasons around the same time. San Fransisco had the longest dynasty and they won 5 Superbowl's in this time period. Dallas had the greatest number of dynasties and they won 5 super bowls as well. The patriots currently have a dynasty and won 3 super bowls and mad two others.
After looking at all the graphs this one made the most sense. Many of the other graphs didn't make sense and were hard to read. This graph clearly illustrates the percentage of a team making it to the playoffs based on the amount of games won. This isn't very surprising because a team that wins most of their games will be successful, and vise versa.
