U.S. and Cuba Friends Again?

Recently in an article published by New York Times, U.S. to Restore Full Relations With Cuba, Erasing a Last Trace of Cold War Hostility, author Peter Baker explores how Obama has ordered the restoration of full diplomatic relations with Cuba.  He also mentions how the U.S. is planning on opening an embassy in Havana for the first time in more than half a century.  It will be interesting to see what will happen from this.  I bet things will be good for a while until something involving drug smuggling will occur and possibly the U.S. relation with Cuban will go sour.

It is very clear that men are different than women. Men and women think very differently and also behave different. Men tend to be more aggressive and violent, while women tend to be caring and mature. This can be explained through the gender differences. Men have testosterone which makes men naturally stronger than men.  This could increase the violence. Because of this increase in strength men think that they have to prove that they are tough. Typically the man is considered the head of the house. Although in the past 25 years this has changed. Most of the violence that is committed is from men. Domestic violence has been seen a dramatic increase. Men are supposed to be the tough ones with no feelings. Men keep everything inside and don’t talk about it. Men have a much higher suicide rate than women.
NBA Players Protest the Eric Garner Decision

I recently read KnowRight Now: NBA Stars Protest the Eric Garner Decision.  This article was about how NBA players were protesting the Eric Garner decision by wearing shirts over their jerseys that say, “I Can’t Breathe”.  The first players to this were the Los Angeles Lakers in their game against the Sacramento Kings. The players started doing this to support protestors to try and have the Eric Garner decision revised.  When Kobe Bryant was asked how he felt about the protest this is what he had to say, “It’s important that we have our opinions. It’s important that we stand up for what we believe in and we all don’t have to agree with it, and it’s completely fine. That’s what makes this a beautiful country.”  This statement he made means a lot and shows how dedicated these players are to show their opinion.   Other NBA teams have started to wear the shirts as well.  Teams like the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavilers, and Brooklyn Nets.  Overall, I think it is good that NBA players are voicing their opinions.

Micheal Moore

I both agree and disagree with Micheal Moore on his views against the bush administration. His claims may have some solid points and are followed by evidence but not all of them. some seemed far fetched and he puts two things together that doesn't seem to go together. He is really good at his job however, his words force the bush administration to act, not many can say they have the power to do that. Realistically  if he has that kind of power why not work together with the families in an organized fashion to find out the truth you seek instead of using words simply to hurt the government. At times like such as this cooperation is key to uncovering the truth.

I think both sides of the argument made by Moore and Hitchens are correct and incorrect.  Moore basically wants to blame the whole thing on Bush which is wrong.  I do believe however, that there may be some kind of relation between the two (Saudi Arabia and the Bush Family).  In his documentary he tries to blame George W. Bush for taking inappropriate actions towards Saudi Arabia.  He argues that Bush should have sent more troops into Afghanistan which would have limited the number of Taliban members escaping.  In Hitchens critique of the film he clearly states that Moore has based his entire documentary off lies.  This does seem very true because when watching the film many times I noticed Moore trying to influence my opinion.  Overall, I would lean more towards agreeing with Hitchens.

Michael Moore’s documentary on 9/11 shows a very slanted view against President Bush. His view is so focused on the mistakes of the President, that he fails to see that the there was a complete failure in U.S. intelligence. He goes towards just one man when the blame should be spread throughout the government. This includes both liberals and conservatives. But even then the blame cannot 100 percent be put on the government. They were not the ones who flew the planes into the towers. There may have been ways to prevent this, but it very easy to say this in hindsight. Politicians will use the failure among the government as propaganda against President Bush. It was clear there were failures at his end, but he is not the only one to blame. He was not the one from the FAA who failed to call in the military after the planes first went missing. They should have at least called when they found out that they were high jacked. But they didn’t.

9/11

9/11 was the darkest day in American history. Almost 3,000 people lost their lives that day, to a group of cowardly terrorists. America was in shock that day, nothing like this had ever happened before. The destruction was even greater than the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. But America pulled through stronger than ever. Although there were mistakes on the way, America showed that we are willing to fight for freedom. This symbol of freedom is captured in the new Freedom Towers. These towers occupy the same grounds that saw the most horrific destruction 13 years ago. The new towers shine taller than all buildings on Manhattan Island. The seen is a view to everyone that the United States of America will fight for the freedom and liberty for everyone across the world. Although we did lose a lot that day America has persevered through the tough times to become a strong nation.

9/11 post

Louis Sullivan
9/11 My article

The terror attacks of 9/11 devastated the families of victims and shocked the nation. The US had not been attacked on home soil since 1941 when Japan attacked the Hawaiian port, Pearle harbor. Like the attack on Pearle harbor the US scrambled to figure out the motives and the terrorist, then swiftly declaring war on them. The aftermath of 9/11 not only changed the lives of families who had victims in the tragedy but also military families. America was going to war. And those who had joined the military during peace time would now be fighting in Afghanistan or Iraq. Thousands of enlisted soldiers were now being sent off to a land they could barely find on a map to fight against an enemy that wasn’t part of a nation.
